The Virginia Dance Coalition (VADC) is a collaboration of dance organizations, dance educators, professional dancers, and choreographers that work together to increase dance opportunities and foster audience appreciation for the diversity of dance companies and programs in Virginia. The Coalition Community is a place where everyone is important, friendships are made, bonds are strengthened, and families are nurtured. The Fairfax County Dance Coalition and ETAP (Educational Theatre Arts Programs) are two of the most prominent partners of the VADC. Founded in 1996 by Raynor van der Merwe and Mario Petrides, ETAP is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that serves the artistic and cultural needs of Fairfax County and Northern Virginia. The Fairfax County Dance Coalition provides free support and resources to help aspiring entrepreneurs plan their businesses.
In October, ETAP will perform in an exciting collaboration with the Fairfax County Dance Coalition to celebrate its fourth annual gala, which includes performances from various dance genres such as jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary and Indian dance. Monica is one of the founders of the Fairfax County Dance Coalition. She grew up in Cincinnati dancing competitively and then went on to a brief professional dance career before realizing that she was born to teach and create a community. Together with her partner, they shared equipment for a few months before they both realized that they had a deep-seated dream that one day they would own their own dance studio. The Christmas program is completed with original programming, sets, costumes and dance numbers that make you feel like you are in New York City watching the Rockettes. Coalition dancers receive training and education in dance history, kinesiology, French vocabulary, and music theory while obtaining a complete and healthy dance repertoire. In recent times, the community has become less valued in society as social networks and technology continue to be the center of attention; the oversexualization of dance has taken hold of television and the dance world, and injuries are scarring these young bodies for life as the urge to overcome unhealthy body postures becomes common.
Together, these two women are training brilliant dancers by raising them in a dance community where we all matter. The Virginia Dance Coalition is open to all dance organizations and individuals interested in supporting and promoting the art of dancing. If you're looking for partnerships or opportunities to increase your knowledge about dancing, then joining the VADC is an excellent choice. Unlock the potential of this amazing organization by becoming part of it today!.
